'Armed suspect' on Greyhound bus arrested after chase from Wisconsin into Illinois
The Belmont School District says it has been advised to take precautions because of the situation in Platteville. Superintendent Christy Larson tells 27 News there is no immediate threat to Belmont schools, but they are on a soft lockdown. Larson says that means they will keep students inside all day.

Waukesha police say they were involved in an officer-involved shooting Monday night involving a reckless driver who fled police. According to police, officers were on patrol in the 2100 block of Macarthur Road on Monday, Jan. 8 just before 7 p.m. when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a reported reckless driver.

Police say an armed robber accused of stealing several cellphones from a Menomonee Falls store has been arrested. The robbery happened about 7 p.m. Friday at a Verizon Store on Silver Spring Drive. Authorities say the 22-year-old man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded the phones. The suspect fled the store on foot.
Charges have been filed in the shooting death of a Milwaukee woman who was killed during a robbery nearly a year ago. Authorities say 53-year-old Karen Simek was shot while she was walking into work at Garden Fresh Foods on Jan. 31, 2017. She had worked at the store for 11 years.
West Bend police say they arrested a man for drunken driving twice in four hours. WISN-TV reports that Anthony Woodall, of South Milwaukee, was first arrested around 5 p.m. Thursday after he was stopped for a traffic violation. Police say he failed field sobriety tests and his breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of 0.12 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski says they ended the year with record numbers. Beloit had one homicide in 2017, and it was from a shaken baby case, according to police. Zibolski says one homicide is still too many, but it's the lowest number the city has seen in five years.

Milwaukee (Shorewood), Wisconsin shooting at 3900 block of North Maryland Avenue: no casualities
According to the Kenosha Fire Department, no one was hurt in the fire. Fire officials say the building is a total loss and there is damage to a neighbor's home. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A police chief in central Wisconsin has resigned amid a series of misconduct allegations, including misuse of power and failure to enforce the law. Owen Mayor Charles Milliren confirms that Andrew Schade submitted his resignation Wednesday. The Owen City Council had ordered an investigation into Schade after suspecting that he had failed to enforce city, county and state laws.
Children at a daycare in Kenosha got a little scare Thursday morning with a small fire. Kenosha Police tell CBS 58 that smoke was coming from the windows. The fire was initially reported around 9:45 a.m. Kenosha Fire tell CBS 58 that it was a small electrical fire which was contained to the area of origin with minimal damage. The daycare is the Play, Grow & Learn located on 65th Street near 11th Avenue.
